NPS Calculator
See what regular contributions to the National Pension System could grow to by retirement, and how the corpus splits into a lump sum and a monthly pension.
Contributions Growth
This is an illustration. It assumes the same yearly return every year and a contribution at the end of each month. Real NPS returns go up and down, annuity rates are set by insurers at the time you retire, and the exit rules are set by PFRDA and can change. Check the current rules on pfrda.org.in.
How this is calculated
Each monthly contribution grows at the yearly return you set, converted to an equal monthly rate, until retirement. The calculator then applies PFRDA's exit rules: at least 20% of the pot buys an annuity for private subscribers and 40% for government employees, a pot up to 8 lakh rupees can be taken in full, and between 8 and 12 lakh the lump sum is capped at 6 lakh. The monthly pension shown is the annuity amount times the annuity rate, divided by 12. Read NPS explained for how the scheme works.
A worked example
Illustration: 5,000 rupees a month from age 30 to 60, at 10% a year. You put in 18 lakh rupees and the corpus grows to about ₹1.03 crore. For a private subscriber using the minimum 20% for a pension at a 6% annuity rate, that is about ₹10,300 a month, and about ₹82.5 lakh can come as a lump sum. Money 30 years from now buys much less, because of inflation.

Questions people ask
How much pension will I get from NPS?
It depends on your contributions, the return your funds earn, the share of the corpus you use to buy a pension (an annuity) and the annuity rate an insurer offers when you retire. This calculator lets you set each one. None of them is fixed in advance.
How much of my NPS money can I take as a lump sum?
Under the PFRDA exit regulations as last amended on 20 July 2026, most non-government subscribers with a pot above 12 lakh rupees can take up to 80% as a lump sum at 60, and must use at least 20% to buy an annuity. Government employees must use at least 40%. A pot of 8 lakh rupees or less can be taken in full; between 8 and 12 lakh, up to 6 lakh as a lump sum. The calculator applies these rules.
NPS me kitna pension milega (how much pension will NPS give)?
Enter your monthly contribution, age and an expected return above. The calculator shows the corpus at 60, the lump sum, and an illustrative monthly pension based on the annuity rate you set.
What return should I assume for NPS?
No return is guaranteed, because NPS money is invested in shares and bonds in the mix you choose. Try a cautious and a hopeful rate and look at the range, not one number.
