Retirement Calculator

See how big a retirement corpus your monthly spending could need, after inflation, and how much to save each month to build it.

Monthly spend at retirement ₹0
Corpus needed at retirement ₹0
Monthly SIP needed ₹0

This is an illustration. It assumes steady inflation and returns every year, which real markets never give. It ignores tax and big one-off costs like health care. Treat the result as a rough target and revisit it every year.

How this is calculated

Your spend today is grown by inflation until the year you retire. The corpus is the lump sum that can pay that spend at the start of each year in retirement, rising with inflation, while the rest keeps earning the after-retirement return, until the age you plan for. Savings you already have grow at the before-retirement return and reduce the target. The monthly SIP is the amount, paid at the end of each month, that reaches the rest, thanks to compounding.

A worked example

Illustration: you are 30 and spend 50,000 rupees a month. At 6% inflation, that becomes about ₹2.87 lakh a month at 60. To fund it until 85 with a 7% return after retiring, you would need a corpus of about ₹7.7 crore. At a 10% return before retiring, that is a monthly SIP of about ₹37,400 for 30 years.

Questions people ask

How much money do I need to retire in India?

It depends on what you spend, how many years until you retire, how long retirement lasts, inflation and the return your savings earn. This calculator turns those into one corpus figure and a monthly SIP, so you can see how each assumption moves the answer.

Why is the retirement number so big?

Because of inflation. At 6% a year, prices roughly double in about 12 years, so a 50,000 rupee monthly spend today needs far more rupees by the time you retire. The corpus also has to last for every year of retirement.

Retirement ke liye kitna paisa chahiye (how much money is needed for retirement)?

Enter your monthly spend today, your age and when you plan to retire. The calculator shows the corpus you would need and the monthly saving that could get you there, at the returns you set.

What inflation and return should I assume?

No one knows future rates. Try a few: a higher inflation and a lower return show a cautious target. Keep the gap between return and inflation realistic, especially after you retire, when most people hold safer, lower-return investments.
