What to read inside the SID
Objective, allocation, risk, cost
A SID looks long, but four things carry most of the decision. Read those four and you have done more diligence than most investors ever do.
- 1
Start with the scheme's objective: what it is trying to do, and for whom.
- 2
Check the asset allocation: how much can go into equity, debt or other assets.
- 3
Read the risk factors and the benchmark the scheme will be judged against.
- 4
Find the costs and any exit load before you commit a single rupee.
If a fund's objective is aggressive growth but your investor wants safety, the SID has already told you it is the wrong fit.
