Example. Your bank reports the interest on your FD, so it shows up in your AIS even if you forget it.

AIS stands for Annual Information Statement. It’s the tax department’s view of what was reported about you: interest, dividends, sales of shares and funds, tax cut at source and taxes you paid. Check it before you file. Read more in AIS and Form 26AS explained.

Questions people ask

What is the full form of AIS?

AIS stands for Annual Information Statement. It's a statement on the income tax portal showing the income, tax cut at source, taxes paid and high-value transactions that others reported about you.

How is AIS different from Form 26AS?

Form 26AS shows only tax deducted or collected at source, from assessment year 2023-24, per the Income Tax Department. AIS is wider: it also covers interest, dividends, share and fund sales, high-value transactions and taxes you paid.

Can I correct a wrong entry in AIS?

Yes. You can give feedback on any entry on the portal, for example that it isn't your income or it's duplicated. The portal then shows your figure next to the reported one.
