Brokerage
The fee your stock broker charges for carrying out a trade.
Brokerage is what your broker charges for each trade. Some brokers charge a flat fee per order, some a percentage, and some charge nothing on delivery trades. GST is added on top. Even at zero brokerage, you still pay STT, stamp duty and DP charges. See the real cost of buying shares.
Questions people ask
What is brokerage in share trading?
Brokerage is the fee your stock broker charges for executing your buy or sell order. Each broker sets its own rates, as a flat fee per order or a percentage of the trade value.
Is GST charged on brokerage?
Yes. 18% GST applies to brokerage, per NSE. It's added on top of the brokerage itself, and shown on your contract note.
Is zero brokerage really free?
Zero brokerage removes the broker's fee, but taxes and charges like STT, stamp duty, exchange fees and DP charges still apply. The trade is cheaper, not free.
